THE TRIP LISTS
The bird trip list is a pdf of a spreadsheet exported from my database. It lists all the species I saw and the locations where they were first seen, and counts where relevant. It's stored on my Google Drive and can be viewed by clicking on the link below. Once displayed it can be downloaded to your machine.
Other wildlife
- Jaguar - I have photos of 5 but my notes say that we saw 9 in all.
- Brazilian Tapir - we were lucky with these and had a total of 13
- Giant River Otter - 2 different family groups seen on 6th and 7th
- Southern River Otter - we were lucky to find a singleton on a boat trip from Southwild lodge on 10th.
- South American Coati
- Crab-eating Racoon - 1 seen on 4th
- Crab-eating Fox - we had good views late afternoon on 3rd [2 individuals], 4th [4 indviduals], and 5th [1 I think].
- Black Howler Monkey - brownish females seen in riverside trees on 6th and 10th.
- Black-capped Capuchin - seen fairly regularly
- Azara's Agouti
- Capybara - very confiding animals seen everywhere near water
- Jacaré Caiman - very numerous
- Marsh Deer - 2 seen on 3rd and seen during dusk drive on 5th, 10th and 11th
- Red Brocket Deer
- Brown Brocket Deer
- Black-tailed Marmoset - 1 seen on 3rd
- Brazilian Porcupine - fantastic views of this rarely seen mammal in riverside trees on 6th [3 seen in total].
- Brazilian Rabbit - see on 4th
- Collared Peccary - 1 seen briefly on 5th
- Greater and Lesser Bulldog Bats - seen on sunset cruises returning to the Flotel.
- Long-nosed Bat - a number seen at roost under a Transpantaneira bridge
- Black & White Tegu Lizard - 3rd Sep
- Collared Lizard
- Green Iguana - a few seen in the Pantanal
- Vine Snake
- 6-Banded Armadillo - 1 seen in an 'allotment' at Pousada Piquiri
- Golden Tegu Lizard
- Taratula sp - 1 seen briefly at Southwild Lodge Santa Tereza
- Leopard Moth - 1 seen sometime during the Iguazu days.
- Snake-necked Turtle - 1 on rock by walkway out to Garganta del Diablo
- Various butterflies - a good selection at Iguazu Falls NP.
